What is Breast Enlargement Surgery?

Breast enlargement, also known as Breast Implant Surgery, a ‘Boob Job’, Breast Augmentation or Boob Enlargement, is one of the most frequently requested and performed surgical procedures at Zenith.

The primary goal of this cosmetic procedure, for the majority of our patients, is to enhance both the size and shape of their breasts through the introduction of carefully selected implants.

Our expert cosmetic surgeons at Zenith take pride in offering implants that come with a lifetime warranty, ensuring lasting peace of mind for our valued patients.

How Do Breast Augmentations Work at Zenith?

Embarking on your Breast Augmentation journey with Zenith can be a transformative decision, boosting self-esteem and confidence. Discover more about your journey below.

Preparation and Initial Consultation

  • Before your Breast Augmentation, you’ll be assigned a dedicated Patient Coordinator who will guide you throughout your journey with Zenith.
  • You’ll meet with your [BAAPS/BAPRAS] registered surgeon to discuss your desired results, breast size, shape, and implant preferences.
  • Both your Surgeon and Patient Coordinator will thoroughly explain potential risks and complications associated with the procedure.
  • An examination will be conducted to assess your suitability for the procedure based on your current breast condition.
  • You have the option for a complimentary 3D Virtual scan to visualise the expected results post-surgery.
  • Your surgeon will recommend the appropriate implants to achieve your desired outcome.
  • While we can’t guarantee an exact final cup size, our experienced surgeons will guide you in selecting implants that best suit your body, ensuring a natural and proportionate outcome.

Planning and Further Consultations

  • We will then proceed with planning your procedure.
  • Additional consultations with the surgeon, at no extra cost, may be scheduled to address any remaining concerns.
  • A mandatory pre-operative assessment will take place 2-5 weeks prior to surgery. This involves meeting our Senior Nurse or Doctor, reviewing your medical history, and conducting measurements and tests to ensure your fitness for the procedure.
  • For patients who smoke, it’s compulsory to abstain for at least 4 weeks before and after surgery.

Pre-Procedure

  • Before your Breast Implant Procedure, you’ll have a final consultation with your surgeon where you’ll discuss details and sign a consent form.
  • Since the surgery requires general anaesthesia, you’ll meet with the anaesthetist to determine the best approach for administering it.

The Surgery

  • The surgeon will create small incisions (approximately 5-7 cm long) in the crease of your breast to ensure minimal scarring that gradually fades over time.
  • You may require several consultations to ensure all your needs and expectations are discussed. These will be provided at no additional cost.
  • Following these consultations, the Surgeon will carefully position the implant either on top or beneath the muscle, opting for the most suitable option for you.
  • The process is then repeated on the second breast to ensure a symmetrical outcome. The entire operation typically lasts between 1-2 hours.

Post-Surgery

After the procedure, you’ll be taken to the recovery ward. In most cases, patients are discharged on the same day with appropriate pain relief.

More About Post-Surgery Recovery and Care

After your Breast Enlargement Surgery, it’s normal to experience some swelling, pain, and bruising. Over-the-counter painkillers such as paracetamol or ibuprofen can help manage any discomfort. Resting is crucial for a smooth recovery, and it’s advised to avoid overusing your arms and chest area to prevent irritation. Taking one to two weeks off work allows ample time for recovery, and you’ll be mobile right from day one, with a return to full exercise within six weeks.

At Zenith, we prioritise your well-being, offering 24/7 clinical care over the phone post-surgery for any concerns. Our nurse will conduct a wound check a week after the procedure, followed by a comprehensive review with the surgeon six weeks later.

The final look and feel of your breasts post-surgery depend on several factors. Your natural tissue prior to the operation, the thickness and elasticity of your skin and the placement of implants can all make a difference in the outcome.

Treatment
