What is Cellfina®?
If you are among the millions of women with cellulite, this may be exactly what you are looking for. The Cellfina® System has won awards for its ability to treat the primary structural cause of cellulite—the connective bands woven throughout fat in the thighs and buttocks. These tight bands pull down the skin to create the puckering you see on its surface. Once treated, the skin bounces back, a bit like a rubber band, to smooth itself out in just fourteen days.
We are one of just 3 clinics chosen to perform this treatment in the whole UK. It is the only treatment for cellulite that has FDA approval and is EU CE-marked.
What is the procedure used for?
The Cellfina® System is used to give long-term improvement in the appearance of cellulite in the buttocks and thighs. Rather than treat the visible appearance of cellulite on the surface of your skin, Cellfina® targets the structural cause of cellulite underneath it to give a longer lasting, smooth look. The results from the original clinical trials show no return of cellulite at three years post treatment, with 93% patient satisfaction persisting at this time.
Who is the treatment suitable for?
Adult women who have cellulite on their buttocks or thighs (or both). It is not suitable for anyone that is pregnant, or overweight, and cannot remove loose skin or excess fat.
The patients who get the best results are those with firm skin and mild to moderate cellulite, with no lipodystrophy.
What happens during the procedure?
What are the side effects or risks?
During the treatment itself, patients on the clinical trial noted a pain score of 3/10, likening it to the discomfort of a pinprick. There have been no serious adverse events associated with Cellfina®. The most common side effects reported by patients in a pivotal FDA-approved study were soreness and bruising. Four weeks after the cellulite procedure, over 90% of the patients had no bruising.
What results can I typically expect?
Results can be seen in as little as 14 days, but will continue to improve for 9 months after your treatment. A study on patients in the US demonstrated that 93% of patients were still satisfied with their results at 3 years.
Before your procedure
You can carry on with activities on the same day as your procedure, but you may want to take it easy for a few days as you can be slightly sore afterwards. If you have a job that requires lifting, you will need to have a couple of days off work to let your body recover.
