Otoplasty for Men
Ear Pinning Surgery procedure that moves the ears and place them at a more natural position on your head
Ear Pinning Surgery, known medically as an Otoplasty or Pinnaplasty, is a common corrective procedure that is used to move the ears and place them at a more natural position on your head.
The result generally ensures that the ears “stick out” less than they currently do.

We are noticing a lot more men taking more pride in their appearance.
Turning to a range of different procedures, like Otoplasty, which helps make them feel more confident.
Ear Pinning surgery is used to reshape and position the cartilage in your ears, which helps to give them a less protruding angle – hence being “pinned back”. Our patients come out of this procedure feeling a lot happier about themselves and we at Zenith are proud to help our patients gain that confidence.
Before Your Otoplasty for Men
You will meet with Mr Muhammad Javaid and allocated Patient Coordinator numerous times before your surgery to assess your suitability for the procedure, and to discuss the possible risks and complications. The Surgeon will confirm what is expected and you will sign a patient consent form once you are happy and be taken through all the details of your procedure.
You will need to attend a Pre-Operative Assessment between 2-5 weeks prior to your surgery date. This is where you will come and meet either our Registered General Nurse or Senior Doctor and they will go through your medical history, take your measurements (height, weight, BMI) and perform a blood and MRSA test to ensure you are fit for surgery!
It is also important that you stop smoking at least 4 weeks before your surgery and continue without smoking for 4 weeks afterwards.
During the Procedure
When undertaking your Otoplasty surgery, your Surgeon typically makes a small incision at the back of the ear and then cuts the cartilage where necessary to create a natural looking fold. The new fold is then held in place with stitches and a cotton wool dressing is applied to splint the ear to the head and ensure comfort while healing.
Male Otoplasty :Aftercare
It is expected that your ears will be slightly sore for a few days after surgery, so it’s advisable to rest as much as possible. To limit the risk of infection and problems with healing, your dressing will need to be kept in place for 10-days before being removed. Once your dressing is removed, you will notice that your ears may appear slightly bruised or red in colour, but flat. At night, your ears should be kept flat with a headband to really maximise the results of your surgery.

FAQs
Am I suitable for an Otoplasty for Men ?
As long as you meet this criterion, the Otoplasty fo men procedure is suitable for anyone who requires their ears reshaping. Despite Ear Pinning surgery being a popular treatment for children and young adults, here at Zenith Cosmetic Clinics we do not treat anyone who is under the age of 18.
How long will I be at the clinic?
Expect to be in the clinic for 2-3 hours to allow for waking up and having a cup of tea after your surgery.
Does male ear pinning hurt?
Not at all, the procedure itself is performed under a General Anaesthetic so there is absolutely no pain, only slight soreness during healing.
How much does it cost to have a male Otoplasty?
Our men’s Otoplasty service starts at just £4200, however the final figure depends on your circumstances and your final goal.
Are there any risks?
As with any surgery there are risks but generally complications are infrequent and minor.
These can include:
- Blood collecting beneath the skin of the ear which may need to be drained.
- Infection
- Scarring
- Bruising
- Cartilage is a living tissue and it may alter its shape over time. Very occasionally, a second operation may be required to refine your results.
- The ear could return to its pre-surgery position although this is extremely rare.
How long will this procedure last for?
Otoplasty, once settled, is expected to be long term unless there is some trauma or pulling of the ears to cause disruption of stitches. We will run through the longevity of this procedure, in more detail, in one of your consultations.
