A Tummy Tuck, or ‘Abdominoplasty’, is a highly effective and long-lasting way to sculpt and reshape your abdominal area. Dr. Javaid, our skilled surgeon here at Zenith, specialises in this procedure, offering both Full and Partial Tummy Tucks to address excess fat, loose skin, and weakened abdominal muscles.
Whether you’re seeking to restore your abdominal contour after weight loss, pregnancy, or to refine your appearance, our personalised approach ensures fantastic results.
There are two types of Tummy Tuck: a Full Tummy Tuck is where the incision is made from hip to hip, whereas a Partial (mini) Tummy Tuck is where smaller incisions are made.
What an Abdominoplasty aims to do is restore a more contoured, smoother abdominal area by removing surplus skin and fat tissue while also addressing weakened or separated abdominal muscles.
At Zenith Cosmetic Clinics, Dr. Javaid specialises in both Full and Mini Tummy Tuck procedures.
The decision to opt for a Tummy Tuck can arise due to various reasons, the most common being if you have lost a considerable amount of weight, or have excess skin in the area following pregnancy.
During the operation, whether it’s a Full or Mini Tummy Tuck, a General Anaesthetic will put you to sleep, ensuring comfort as the excess skin and fat of the lower abdomen are detached from the abdominal muscles. The skin is then repositioned, with any redundant tissue being removed.
Your belly button can also be moved to fit the new abdominal structure if required, and a small area of the tummy muscles can be tightened. Your Surgeon may then use Liposuction to give the stomach definition, again, if this is required. At the end of the main surgery, the tummy “flap” is then stitched back into place.

At Zenith Cosmetic Clinics, our patient-centric approach prioritises informed decisions, providing comprehensive information, guidance, and support throughout the surgery journey.
Patients undergoing either type of Tummy Tuck can expect a personalised pre-operative preparation period. You will meet with your specific Surgeon, and allocated Patient Coordinator, numerous times before your surgery to assess your suitability for the procedure and discuss any risks or complications.
A thorough Pre-Operative Assessment, 2-5 weeks before the scheduled surgery date, will also ensure your fitness for the procedure. This involves measurements, medical history review, and essential tests.
Please note that a smoke-free period of at least 4 weeks before and after surgery is recommended for optimal healing.
Post-surgery, a recovery period of 2-3 weeks is generally advised (depending on the type of work you do). It’s also recommended to avoid strenuous activities and heavy lifting for 6 weeks post-surgery, and that you wear a supportive garment throughout the recovery period to reduce swelling and promote support.
Any abdominal operation, such as Tummy Tuck surgery, does involve an element of risk, but in our expert hands here at Zenith, you can rest assured you are receiving the highest standard of care.
Generally, healthy, non-smoking patients will experience minimal risk factors, however some potential side effects and risks associated with Abdominoplasty include:
Note that the Abdominoplasty procedure is suitable for anyone that is of a healthy weight, but with excess skin and fat around their abdomen (tummy).
Tummy Tuck surgery (UK) is performed with the patient under General Anaesthetic.
You will see results of your Tummy Tuck procedure around 6-8 weeks after, once any swelling has subsided.
Tummy Tuck results are permanent!
A full Tummy Tuck operation can take up to 3 hours, while a mini Tummy Tuck will take up to 2 hours.
There will be 6-8 weeks of downtime after your Tummy Tuck procedure.

Read More ReviewsWhat is the cost of a Tummy Tuck?
Our pricing is highly competitive and we pride ourselves on delivering value to our patients. We hand hold each patient throughout their journey with a small and dedicated team who will be there 24/7 before, during and after the procedure. You will be given a fixed cost at your consultation that includes everything with no extra hidden costs. We also offer a 0% finance option which any of our team would be happy to discuss with you in more detail.
Can I have a Tummy Tuck if I’m overweight?
This procedure is not ideal for people who are currently overweight and is definitely not a “quick fix”. You would get better, longer-lasting results if you lose the weight first and consider a Tummy Tuck to remove excess skin and fat afterwards. We are the weight loss and fat reduction specialists at Zenith Cosmetic Clinics, so have lots of other options that might help you! You can visit our page on Excess Belly Fat for more information.
Following the Tummy Tuck procedure, will I still be able to look after my small children?
You will need to have full-time help with small children for the first few weeks after your procedure. Lifting a child, or any significant weight, after your surgery puts you at risk of developing complications and needing further procedures. You should be able to do most of your other day-to-day tasks such as driving, cooking, and shopping after the first 2 or 3 weeks.
What is the typical recovery time after a Tummy Tuck surgery in the UK?
After a Tummy Tuck, recovery varies, but usually takes several weeks (around 6-8). Patients may experience discomfort, swelling, and bruising initially, but these typically subside gradually.
Will there be visible scarring after my Tummy Tuck operation?
Our experienced Surgeons at Zenith strategically place incisions, helping to minimise visible scarring. Over time, scars do tend to fade, but may vary depending on your individual healing processes.
Can a Tummy Tuck help with weight loss?
While Tummy Tuck surgery primarily targets excess skin and fat removal, it is not a weight loss procedure. Patients should achieve a stable, healthy weight before considering this surgery. Tummy Tuck surgery simply helps to contour the abdomen.
How long should I wait after pregnancy or significant weight loss before considering a Tummy Tuck?
For optimal results, it’s advisable to wait until after you’ve reached a stable weight and completed your family planning. Pregnancy or significant weight fluctuations post-surgery may affect the results.
