Droopy Eyelids - Hoody

Droopy or hooded upper eyelids, medically known as Ptosis, is normally caused by natural aging and is usually the same on both sides.

Very occasionally the cause can be an underlying medical condition, in which case it usually only appears on one side, with a history of sudden onset. Sometimes the apparent “hooding” is due to a lowered eyebrow rather than the eyelid itself.

How Can I Treat Drooping Eyelids?

The options are to either both tighten and shrink the skin of the eyelid with heat that also shrinks the collagen, and therefore the skin, or to cut away the excess skin with a surgical procedure known as Blepharoplasty.

Non-Surgical Tightening Treatments

  • Endymed FSR – Minimal to no downtime, 6 sessions will help to tighten and shrink upper lid
  • Morpheus 8 – 2-3 sessions, 1-3 days of redness but reduces wrinkles and shrinks upper lid
  • CO2 Laser – 1-4 sessions of CO2 Resurfacing is the traditional non-surgical method, 3-5 days of redness post procedure. It has a great deal of control and reduces wrinkles on eyelids better than any most methods
  • High Intensity Focussed Ultrasound – This can be used for lower lids

Plasma Treatment Does not have advantages over CO2 but causes much more permanent scarring with longer healing time as works by causing shallow burns in the eyelids, we have rejected this method of treatment at Zenith Cosmetic Clinics after evaluation and DO NOT recommend it.

Surgical Tightening Treatment

There is one Surgical Treatment for removing eye-bags and hooding. This procedure is traditionally Blepharoplasty. Most prefer not to do this at a younger age, most popular in those over 50.
