What are skin lesions?
Skin lesions are lumps that form beneath the skin, or growths that form on the skin. They generally have a different colour and texture to the surrounding skin and may be raised above the skin surface. Skin lesions are very common; some more than others.
Besides warts, the causes of most skin lesions are still not fully understood. Hereditary genetics and genetic disorders could play a role, as well as localized damage to the skin, or infections and diseases.
Types of Skin Lesion
- Mole – a cluster of pigment-forming cells that appears on the skin as a dark spot
- Sebaceous cyst – a lump in the skin with a central pore, filled with a waxy substance
- Skin tag – a small, fleshy growth that hangs off the skin
- Warts and verrucas – skin growths caused by a viral infection

The Procedure

Results
Due to the nature of skin lesion removal, results will be immediate, though warts sometimes require further treatment sessions. Removing skin lesions does not usually leave visible scars. Scars that do appear will be small and will fade with time.
Aftercare
Most patients can return to work and normal activities the following day. We will give you detailed aftercare advice after the treatment, but full recovery is estimated at four weeks. The recovery period will depend on the type and size of lesion removed. Skin lesion removal should not be painful and any discomfort you do experience, such as bruising and swelling, can be managed with standard pain medication.
