At our Nottingham clinic, we use Cutera Enlighten laser tattoo removal to treat tattoos of varying colours and particle sizes.
A beam of light, comprised of three wavelengths, is directed onto the tattoo in ultra-short pulse durations using picosecond and nanosecond technology (2 nanoseconds and 750/660 picoseconds).
The pulse durations are adjustable, as are the wavelengths, allowing for efficient and effective removal of ink; a lift in pigment density; and the targeting of specific colours and depths.
The treatment has a strong, non-thermal, photomechanical effect, breaking up the tattoo pigments without damaging the surrounding tissues.
Cutera Enlighten has not earned its place as the most advanced tattoo removal technology for no reason. Compared to other methods, Cutera laser treatment is:
Laser tattoo removal is suitable for most people with a tattoo. Depending on your personal circumstances, you may wish to consider the cost of the treatment and the time it takes to eradicate the tattoo pigments completely. These are dependent on the following factors:
The more complex your tattoo, the more expensive or time-consuming treatment is likely to be.
Cutera Enlighten almost halves the amount of treatment sessions you’ll need compared to traditional laser procedures. Most laser tattoo removal takes 5 to 10 sessions to completely erase an average tattoo; even then, complete clearance is not guaranteed.
Cutera can completely remove a tattoo in 3 to 6 sessions, spaced six weeks apart. This time frame will vary based on the size, location and complexity of your tattoo, among other factors. Visible results will be achieved after each session.

Each laser tattoo removal session could last between 15 minutes and one hour.
A week’s downtime is recommended after the procedure. We will give you detailed aftercare instructions to ensure a speedy recovery.
Common side-effects that people encounter post-procedure include: temporary redness, swelling, scabbing, blistering, bruising, or hyper-pigmentation. These will subside within 24 hours to seven days. Cutera’s short pulse duration should lessen these effects in comparison with other treatments.
Laser tattoo removal is often described as being as painful as getting a tattoo. Cutera treatment may sting, but it will be faster than a tattoo session. Any discomfort soon subsides after the procedure and a local anaesthetic can be applied to the skin if desired.
Cutera Enlighten is an FDA approved laser tattoo removal technology. It is certifiably safe and effective for all skin types and skin tones.
