What happens during laser hair removal?

During laser hair removal, your practitioner will direct a laser straight into each hair root.

Your hair’s pigment, or colouring, absorbs this light energy and converts it into heat. The raised temperature damages the hair follicles and slows or completely stops further normal hair growth, eventually resulting in permanent hair removal. The laser targets only the unwanted hair, leaving the surrounding skin unharmed.

How many sessions of laser hair removal treatment will I need?

Hair doesn’t grow at the same rate all over your body, so your practitioner cannot predict when a hair follicle is most active.

Capturing all your unwanted hair at the right stage in the hair growth cycle will usually require a course of laser hair treatment sessions over a few weeks for optimal results.

The number of sessions required will vary depending on several factors, including your hair and skin tones.

Although laser removal therapy is suitable whatever your hair or skin type, dark hair sometimes responds more quickly than fair hair because the laser picks out the pigment more easily.

At Zenith Cosmetic Clinics, we offer our clients free consultations. Typically our clients have between 8 and eighteen sessions for best results. Your practitioner will advise you on how many sessions of laser hair removal treatment will be required and devise a treatment plan for you.

Does laser hair removal hurt?

Laser hair removal is not painful but can be uncomfortable in delicate areas.

The laser can cause a slight sensation, like flicking an electric band on the skin.

We use the Soprano ICE laser hair removal machine, one of the most sophisticated on the market.

The Soprano ICE has an innovative gradual heating method with built-in cooling technology to keep your skin at a comfortable temperature and reduce the elastic band effect.

It also features a sweeping technique that ensures complete and speedy coverage of the treatment area.

Is laser hair removal permanent?

Laser hair removal treatment offers permanent hair reduction. After multiple treatments, the regrowth will be sparser and weaker.

Some of the hair will be permanently removed, while other areas may require occasional top-up treatments.

For example, laser hair removal usually produces permanent hair removal under the arms, but some facial hair may require maintenance treatment sessions.
