What is facial fat transfer?
Facial fat transfer, also known as facial fat grafting, involves removing fat from one part of your body and carefully injecting it into areas of the face that have lost volume. This technique softens lines, fills hollow areas, and enhances facial contours using your own natural tissue.
How long does a facial fat transfer last?
Facial fat transfer results can be long-lasting. A portion of the transferred fat typically integrates permanently into the treated areas. While individual results vary, many patients enjoy noticeable improvements for several years with proper care and a stable weight.
Is facial fat grafting safe?
When performed by a qualified medical professional, facial fat grafting is generally considered safe. Because your own fat is used, there’s no risk of allergic reaction. Like all procedures, it carries some risks, which will be discussed during your consultation.
Which areas of the face can be treated?
Common treatment areas include the cheeks, under-eye hollows, temples, nasolabial folds (smile lines), jawline, and lips. Your treatment plan will be tailored to your unique facial structure and aesthetic goals.
What is the recovery like after facial fat transfer?

The Process
Pre-Treatment
Before your facial fat transfer, you’ll attend a thorough consultation to evaluate your facial structure, discuss your goals, and determine your suitability for the procedure. Pre-treatment guidance may include avoiding medications or supplements that increase bruising risk.
Treatment
The procedure begins with gentle liposuction to harvest fat from a donor area, such as the abdomen or thighs. The fat is then purified and precisely injected into targeted areas of the face to restore volume and improve contour.
Post-Treatment
Following your treatment, you’ll receive detailed instructions on how to care for both the donor site and the treated facial areas. Swelling and bruising are common and typically subside within a couple of weeks. Follow-up appointments may be arranged to monitor your progress.
Sides Effects & Risks
Typical side effects include swelling, bruising, and temporary numbness. As with any surgical procedure, risks such as infection, asymmetry, or fat reabsorption may occur. Your practitioner will explain these risks and how they are minimised.
