What Are Stretch Marks?
Stretch marks are caused when the skin rapidly stretches as a result of sudden growth or weight gain, for example during puberty or pregnancy. The stretching of the skin causes the middle layer of skin (known as the dermis) to tear; allowing the deeper skin layers to show through, forming stretch marks. Stretch marks look like little lines or streaks that go across the skin.
It is important to remember that stretch marks are extremely common, and they are harmless. Whilst they often can become less visible over time, some stretch marks are much more noticeable than others, leaving people feeling self-conscious in their own skin. Luckily there are a range of procedures designed to treat stretch marks! You can find out more about the stretch mark treatments our clinic offers below.Get in touch
