Loose Neck Skin

This is a natural part of aging and can happen anywhere on the body, including but not limited to your face, neck, chest, upper arms, stomach and hands.

Ways To Tighten Skin

Tighten Skin Non-Surgically

Non-Surgically you can heat skin which is the most common technique, when heating skin to a particular temperature it causes the collagen fibres to shrink and therefore tighten.

We have many Skin Tightening Treatments at Zenith Cosmetic Clinics that can do this. We have listed them below, please do click on each treatment for more information:

Also included under Non-Surgical treatments, although not involving heating the skin, is a new treatment called Profhilo. This is an injectable treatment and when injected into skin, Profhilo stimulates the skin cell receptors to counteract skin laxity and improve and restore firmness of the skin! Think of Profhilo as an internal moisturizer with stimulating properties.

Read more about Profhilo on the treatment page here.

Tighten Skin Surgically

At Zenith we offer a wide variety of surgical procedures to help reduce the looseness of skin. All surgery is performed by our highly qualified and experienced surgeons. These procedures usually include cutting away excess skin and stitching back up, to permanently remove the loose skin from that area.

The procedures which incorporate this theory include the following treatments listed below, please do click on any of these to find out more information

History of Skin Tightening

It was first noticed by surgeons, who worked with burns, many decades ago that those who had very mild burns often had less wrinkling of their skin as a consequence. Obviously the lack of control of the skin temperature during a burn is a big issue and results in scarring. Thus the early plastic surgeons devised methods of heating the skin to the precise temperature to get the contraction but not the scarring.

Over time the CO2 laser was developed to be able to apply this burn in a very controlled way and has been used for over 30 years. This was used to burn the epidermis (superficial layer of skin) off to a depth of 0.2-0.3mm.

It was proven that the effect of heating the skin depended on which layer of the skin was heated and to get the heat into the deep layer of skin where our collagen is, was more important than just burning the skin at surface level. It was also discovered that leaving healthy skin between treated areas meant that the treated areas healed better!

Fractional lasers were then developed that could penetrate deeper in the skin. The important difference was that they left untreated areas between columns of treatment, and consequently there was little or no scarring.

FAQs

You will have a full and in-depth consultation with a Doctor or Surgeon before booking or deciding on any final treatment. This ensures that you have been shown all options available and had the opportunity to discuss if this is right for you!

The Doctor will also be able to assess the area and make recommendations based upon your individual expectations.

The treatments differ based on machines, intensity, technique and how invasive they are.

Some heating techniques use CO2 Laser and others use Radiofrequency. Some treatments will of course be more intense or invasive than others, and then some require a course of treatments whereas others can be a one-off.

Please do visit the individual treatment pages above for more information, or come in for a consultation to discuss the options available with our Doctors.
