What Is The HIFU Treatment?

The ULTRAFORMER III uses HIFU technology (short for High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound) to provide a quick and effective treatment to help treat some of the signs of ageing and restore youthful looking skin on the face, as well as the body. Whilst HIFU is wildly known for the application of treating tumours, much research has been carried out into its excellence in cosmetic use.

How Does HIFU Work?

The device targets much deeper layers of the skin (called the SMAS layers) than other procedures available on the market. The use of the High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound energy activates the skin regenerative process.

It is this skin rejuvenating process that results in new collagen being built, which in turn reduces wrinkles and improves the look and feel of sagging skin. This is because collagen helps to increase skin elasticity, and helps to provide greater strength and structure to the skin, resulting in firmer skin overall. Over the coming months, you’ll notice skin tightening and lifting of the skin, leaving you with more youthful looking and feeling skin.

What Can The HIFU Treatment Be Used For?

The ULTRAFORMER III HIFU treatment is used to tighten, lift and contour the face and body, and for most people, this results in no side effects, no downtime and no scarring.

The treatment is sometimes compared to capturing sunlight and reflecting it through a magnifying glass to deliver a beam - it delivers ultrasound energy into a targetted region of the skin to stimulate and formulate collagen regeneration. The precision delivery of a high density of power allows your clinician to target exactly where you'd like to improve and you will see immediate results.

Differences Between HIFU & Facelift

Despite the obvious difference between HIFU and a traditional surgical facelift being that HIFU is non-surgical, what are the key difference between these skin tightening procedures? You may have heard, alike most non-surgical procedures, the results of your HIFU face treatment may not last as long and repeated procedures may be needed. This is to be expected, as HIFU comes at a lower cost, much lower risks and no recovery time.

A surgical facelift could cost you six times as much, not to mention a 2-4 week recovery time and risks of infection, bleeding, pain and scarring. That being said, HIFU isn’t for everyone so it is important to assess all of the options that are available to you. We advise that you book a consultation at our clinic so that we can advise the best skin tightening treatment for you.

HIFU Treatment Procedure

At your consultation, we will take a full medical history and assess your suitability for the treatment. We will then coordinate a custom treatment plan with you, based on your concerns and what you would like to achieve from the treatment.

During the HIFU treatment, we will:

• Clean the area to be treated with a soft cleanser

• Outline target areas

• Conduct a test shot to determine your pain toleration

Your treatment will then commence. This involves moving the handpiece over the area and delivering pulses of energy to achieve the desired effect. Your treatment may be slightly uncomfortable but should not be painful and any discomfort should quickly subside immediately after treatment.

HIFU Side Effects & Risks

Patients receiving the ULTRAFORMER III HIFU may experience the following side effects, all of which are normal responses to the treatment and are mild and temporary:

• Swelling

• Erythema (redness)

• Tenderness

• Bruising

• Lumps

• Scarring

Post-procedure, you’re not on your own. Our expert team are only a phone call away to answer any questions and concerns you may have regarding your recovery.
