Rosacea, is it affecting your confidence?
Rosacea is a long term skin condition which causes frequent flushing, redness and inflammation of the cheeks, chin, forehead, nose, and eyelids.
Typical other symptoms for Rosacea include:
- Pronounced blood vessels
- Skin eruptions similar to Acne
- Burning or stinging sensation
- Spots (Papules or Pustules)

Due to the visibility of Rosacea, the disease can significantly impact psychological wellbeing. Patients often report feeling very self conscious when participating in social events and as a result limit their social activities. The exact cause of Rosacea is unknown and research is still on-going. Several triggers for the disease have been identified and although they are not thought of as a direct cause of the disease they can influence the severity of your symptoms.
- Exposure to sunlight
- Strenuous exercise
- hot or cold weather changes
- hot drinks
- alcohol and caffeine
- Certain foods including spices.
Unfortunately, there is no long term cure for rosacea, however the disease can be controlled with laser treatment.
