What is a scar?
A scar is a mark left by a healed wound, sore, acne or a burn - some type of injury to the skin. Scars are very common – most people have at least one on their body. They are a natural part of the healing process.
What treatments are available to improve the look of scars?
The procedure we use to treat you will depend on the cause and appearance of your scar, and what our doctors and surgeons believe will get you the best results. We offer the following treatments for scars:
NON SURGICAL SCARS
For scars that have been caused by a condition (such as acne or chicken pox), we have a huge range of treatments available. We use combinations of:
- CO2 laser
- Fractora RF laser
- Dermal fillers
- Chemical peels
- Fat Transfer
Don't worry if this list is a little overwhelming - our job as the experts is to recommend the treatment that will get you the best results. The first step is to book in for a consultation to come and meet us and see what we can do for you.
For scars that have been caused by burns or a surgical procedure, the options are slightly more limited, but we are still able to get good results. We recommend you come in for a consultation, but here is a bit of guidance on what we can offer:
Hypertrophic - where the scar is confined to the edges of the wound and does not go beyond
- Excision - sometimes the wound can be cut out and restitched by a surgeon
- Fraxel laser
- Dermal fillers
Keloid scars are where the scar appears to grow beyond the boundaries of the wound and in some cases, continues to grow. They can be more difficult to treat but there are options for you at Zenith - book in for a consultation with Doctor Maini to see whether we can help improve the apperance of your scar.
