What is Cellulite?
Cellulite is caused by a build up of fat cells underneath your skin and water retention around them. In most cases, this is caused by either hormones or your genetics - the way your body stores fat. Women are more prone to cellulite than men.
What is LPG used for?
LPG is a non-surgical treatment used to reduce the 'dimpled' appearance of cellulite on your skin while increasing blood flow and smoothing the skin at the same time. The LPG machine stimulates your skin and tissues underneath to encourage your body to get rid of the fat cells. It has been clinically proven to get results. Most people also notice their skin is visibly tighter following treatment.
Who is the treatment suitable for?
Anyone that has moderate cellulite. It is not suitable for:
- Pregnant women
- Anyone taking blood thinner medication
- Anyone with circulatory or vascular disease
- Cancer patients
- People with infectious progressive diseases
- People with AIDS
What happens during the procedure?
The machine itself has been likened to a kind of body hoover - it essentially sucks the skin into the hand-piece to stimulate the tissues underneath. It is not painful - in most cases, it is relaxing.
What are the side effects or risks?
In very rare cases the machine may cause bruising on people with very sensitive skin.
What results can I typically expect?
You will need multiple sessions to notice a difference but after a few you should notice a significant reduction in the appearance of your cellulite. The average person starts to notice the changes after about 3-6 sessions.
LPG treatment for cellulite works best when combined with other treatments; for example the Dermaroller or EndyMed. It is worth bearing in mind that there is no cure for cellulite, and although this treatment will probably improve the appearance of your skin, it cannot get rid of cellulite permanently and you will need regular treatments. We would recommend a course of 10 sessions initially.
Before your procedure
You will need to wear a supporting garment during your treatment which is provided by the clinic (at a cost).
As with many cosmetic procedures, it's a treatment you will want to repeat fairly regularly to maintain the results. We would recommend once or twice per month. To prolong your results, you must also take regular exercise, eat a healthy diet, drink lots of water and limit your alcohol intake.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does it hurt?
The treatment should be relaxing. Our highly trained therapists will check your comfort level throughout your treatment, and if you do feel uncomfortable, we can alter the intensity of the machine.
